A ceremonial award function to felicitate 42 teaching and supporting staff of Bhilai, was held at Bhilai Niwas MP Hall on Saturday, the birthday of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, remembered on this day every year as an ideal teacher and an eminent educationist.
The function was graced by YK Degan, Executive Director (Works) Bhilai Steel Plant as the chief guest. Among the other guests present were SB Jagdale, ED I/c Projects, PK Sinha ED (Mines Rowghat), SK Saha ED(Mines), General Managers and senior officers from various departments of Bhilai Steel Plant, the flagship unit of the public sector Steel Authority of India ltd (SAIl).
At the outset, Degan and other dignitaries invoked the blessings of Goddess Saraswati and paid homage to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
Applauding the sincere efforts of the teachers in Bhilai and urging them to carry on the yeoman service to society, the chief guest, Degan said it is a matter of pride for us that Bhilai Steel Plant which has earned its reputation in the field of steel-making also stands apart from others in the field of education.
“Bhilai is known as the education hub of the region. The celebration of Teachers Day therefore assumes great significance for us Bhilaians’’, he said. “Teachers shape our destiny and what we have become today and whatever we are able to contribute is largely because of our teachers,” he added.
