At least 40 runners from Naxal insurgency hit Narayanpur district would take part in the State-level Marathon race scheduled on January 12, a Government statement informed on Wednesday.
The participants were selected from the district-level Marathon organised on January 8 at Narayanpur. District Collector Yashwant Singh and CEO of District Panchayat Kartikey Goyal flagged off the district Marathon on Wednesday at Narayanpur. In all 55 men participated in 25-km long Marathon and 25 women participants took part in 5-km long Marathon respectively. A total of 30 participants were selected after the race from both the categories.
The occasion was marked with presence of Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr SK Kanwar, Executive Engineer PWD F Toppo, Assistant Commissioner Tribal Development JR Sory, District Education Officer S Sommaya and other, besides medical team from department of health and police for security also deputed on the spot. large number of students from Schools and teachers also turned up to see the race.
