Four Naxals including two women ultras surrendered in the insurgency-hit Kondagaon district, police said on Friday.
The insurgents were dissatisfied with dual standard adopted by Naxals and hence decided to quit the Maoist ideology, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena said. The surrendered ultras were identified as Sukku Ram Nareti (30) Fulbatti Korram (35), Sushila Nag (26) and Ghassu alias Massu Ram Netam (40), all residents of Kanker.
Under threat from senior Naxal leaders, four of them had joined Naxal organisation; however, they were not convinced by the Maoist ideology, he maintained. Sukku Ram Nareti had joined Maoist cadre in 2003 and was involved in a bomb blast at Dhanora village wherein four police officers had succumbed.
The insurgent had also actively participated in incidents of arson, damaging Government buildings and similar, Meena said. Sushila Naag and Ghassu who were Janmilitia members active in Kiskod region had attacked police party during 2009 general elections. Fulbatti was part of the support team for Naxals and used to stitch dresses for the guerrillas, the SP maintained. After surrendering, the insurgents told the police that Naxal leaders did not allow them to go home and were exploiting them. Sukku Ram Nareti told police that he was member of Maoist Military Company number 5. His claims are being verified, the SP said.
Meanwhile, a hardcore female Naxal who was member of Naxal local Operating Squad (lOS) surrendered before Superintendent of Police (SP) Kanker RN Dash and BSF officials in Kanker on Wednesday. “The insurgent was left in jungles by fellow cadre in bad health condition with no one to assist here. This made her to leave the Maoists ,” Dash said. Subti Potai alias Kavita (23) resident of Bagdongri village, Narayanpur has left the Naxal organization, he said.
She had joined Maoist cadre in 2009 and was married to Sonsai Markam of Koylibeda who is still working with Maoist insurgents. Kavita was lOS member active in Panidobir region, the SP said. Before surrendering, she was active in Koylibeda, Siksod and Rowghat of Kanker district. While working with Naxals she developed some health related complexities. However, the guerrillas left her behind in the jungles of Aalparas and did not allow her husband to stay back for taking care of Kavita, the SP said.
Under agony, she walked out of jungle and informed police about her decision of leaving the Maoist organisation. Kavita, according to the police was involved in attack on BSF camp at Udanpur in 2012.
