Nearly 32.46 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured at centres of cooperative societies under support price policy in the current Kharif marketing year 2014-15 so far, officials stated. This procurement drive had commenced at 976 procurement centers from December 1, which will go on till January 5. This year, support price for thick paddy (common) has been fixed at Rs1360 and paddy of thin variety (grade A) has been at Rs1400, officials stated.
The Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Marketing Federation (MARKFED) officials stated that till Monday morning, 3,49,890 metric tonnes of paddy was procured in Mahasamund district, 2,82,789 metric tonnes of paddy in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district, 2,89,632 metric tonnes of paddy in Janjgir-Champa district, 2,84,789 metric tonnes of paddy in Rajnandgaon district, 2,68,604 metric tonnes of paddy in Raipur district, 2,43,040 metric tonnes of paddy in Balod district, 2,18,963 metric tonnes of paddy in Dhamtari district, 1,67,268 metric tonnes of paddy in Raigarh district and 1,69,071 metric tonnes of paddy in Durg district.
The officials further informed that 1,57,907 metric tonnes of paddy in Bemetara district, 1,48,622 metric tonnes in Bilaspur district, 1,35,133 metric tonnes in Gariaband, 93,236 metric tonnes in Kabeerdham district, 86,828 metric tonnes in Mungeli district, 89,801 metric tonnes in North Bastar (Kanker), 48,740 metric tonnes in Surajpur, 40,861 metric tonnes in Surguja district, 35,039 metric tonnes in Korba district, 30,330 metric tonnes in Bastar district, 23,766 metric tonnes of paddy in Kondagaon district, 22,057 metric tonnes in Koriya district, 22,700 metric tonnes in Balrampur-Ramanujganj district, 19,529 metric tonnes in Jashpur district, 7,074 metric tonnes in Bijapur district, 5,178 metric tonnes of paddy in Sukma district, 3,631 metric tonnes of paddy in Narayapur, and 1,742 metric tonnes of paddy has been procured in South Bastar (Dantewada) in the aforesaid duration.
