3 Maoists including a couple arrested

Three Maoists including a couple were arrested from separate locations in insurgency-hit Dantewada district, police informed on Sunday.The Maoist couple was nabbed by a joint team of 195th battalion CRPF and District Police from Korlapal village forests under Geedam police station limits, Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP), Kamlochan Kashyap informed.

The couple identified as Mallesh alias Dhansingh and his wife Sukay Vetti were held during a combing operation based on intelligence inputs from the village.

According to SP, Mallesh was a prominent Naxal leader of the region and was active as Commander of Section ‘A’ of Maoist Military Platoon Number 1 of Military Company No. 6 of outlawed CPI (Maoist).

After joining the banned movement in 2009, he had executed several deadly Naxal attacks in Narayanpur and Dantewada region, he said. The State government had declared reward of Rs 8 lakh on his head. The insurgent was part of guerilla squad that killed 27 CRPF jawans in a deadly attack on paramilitary forces under Dhaudai police station limits (Narayanpur) in 2010, the SP mentioned.

Mallesh’s wife Sukay was active member of the same group and assisted her husband in several Naxal incidents, the SP said, adding, the duo were carrying a reward of `8 lakh each on their heads.A 2-kg tiffin bomb, four detonators, wire, Naxal banners were also recovered from their possession, he said.In a separate action a Militia Member- Sanu Kadti, who was involved in attack on a police Anti-landmine vehicle in Dantewada’s Kirandul region has been arrested. A reward of Rs 35,000 was announced for his arrest, the SP informed.

Kadti was arrested by the team of District Force and STF (Special Task Force) on the input that he was on his way to his native village Kutrem. The team nabbed the ultra from a jungle between Kutrem and Hiroli villages, the SP said
