The second phase of Pulse Polio drive will be held on Sunday. Under the drive children below 5-years of age will be administered polio drops at different booths across the state.
At Jashpur, 1140 polio vaccination booths have been set up for administering polio drops to about 1.22 lakh children living in the district. In all 4562 persons from health and other department/organizations have been deployed at booths to make the programme successful. For inspection and observation, 220 inspectors have also been appointed.
Official informed that 34 mobile teams and 16 transit teams have also been constituted for the mega polio drive. On Sunday, February 21, polio drops will be administered at the booths while on Monday and Tuesday, the children left out from February 21 polio drive, will be covered in a door to door polio campaign.
Notably, the first phase of National Pulse Polio Drive was held on January 17. The door to door campaign was carried out on January 18 and 19. Chhattisgarh Health Department during the first phase had decided to administer polio drops to 36.60 lakh children. To achieve this target about 23,000 vaccination booths were set up in which about 80,000 employees were deployed in different regions during the first phase of the drive.
