Notably, NRDA will also design and develop an ‘integrated zone’ near the Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur.

NRDA’s Airport zone is spread over an area of 1192.56 hectares and the proposed land use is mainly for transportation purposes, officials stated.

The Naya Raipur city had been divided into six zones  for which zoning plans are being prepared under Naya Raipur land Use Plan-2031.

The NRDA Planning Area consists of three layers mainly- Planning layer-I consisting of Naya Raipur city including the green belt area in 9522 hectares, the Planning layer-II consists of Peripheral Rural Zone in an area of 13,028 hectares and Planning layer-III consists of the Airport Zone spread in 1192.56 hectares.

Notably, the Naya Raipur Mass Transport ltd (NRMTl) is in the process of developing a total of three BRTS corridors covering a total of 40 kms with exclusive ‘Right of Way’ with the possibility of mixed route extension.

NRMTl  established to act as a Special Purpose Vehicle to carry out the objectives of building, constructing and developing public transport system has proposed to develop the BRTS with private sector participation, officials stated.

The Corridor-I would be of 25 kms from Raipur Railway Station till Capitol Complex in Naya Raipur.

The Corridor-III would be of 17.8 kms within Naya Raipur.

To facilitate BRTS operations, the NRMTl would provide depots and workshops to park and service the vehicles when not in use.

The operator would maintain 30 air conditioned buses at routes designated by NRMTl. If the fleet requirement is more , 10 more buses would be provided by the operator of similar specifications.

An ‘Intelligent Tracking System’ (ITS) would be established under the proposed Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) in the new administrative capital.

NRDA will soon commence allotment of industrial plots in Sector 5 of the new capital city, officials stated.

NRDA has called for Expression of Interest (EoI) from companies and persons desirous of setting up industrial projects in the new capital region.

Early this year, Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu had also put forward a proposal that a ‘Cargo Hub’ should be developed in Naya Raipur with a Container Depot in Chhattisgarh.

He had stated  that his Ministry will bear the entire development cost if the Chhattisgarh Government agrees to provide land for the proposed hub.

To this, Chief Minister Raman Singh who had met the Union Railway Minister in New Delhi had assured the latter that his Government will provide land for the project.

It may be recalled that the Central Government has accorded 'final approval' to the proposed Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Chhattisgarh’s  new capital here.

The Greenfield EMC in Chhattisgarh was accorded 'in-principle' approval as on September 21, 2015.

The location of the  EMC is at Tuta village in Sector-22 of Naya Raipur . The chief promoter of the project is Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) and the project is to be established in an area measuring 70 acres .

In December 20 last year, the Chhattisgarh Government had informed in an official statement that the Central Government has consented to provide its final approval to the EMC .

An assurance in this regard was given by Union Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh during a meeting in New Delhi on December 20.

Providing details on the 'Electronic Manufacturing Cluster' during the meeting, Chief Minister Raman Singh had told the Union Minister, as per the official statement, that as many as 11 companies have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to the tune of around `968 crore for setting up projects in the cluster.

The Chhattisgarh Government has completed requisite preparation for development of the 'Electronic Manufacturing Cluster' and work in this regard is going to start immediately after receiving final approval from the Centre, it had mentioned.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister had also informed Prasad that Chhattisgarh is the first State in the country to offer its consent for setting up of Optical Fiber network under Bharat Net project and it has started the process for formation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).

During the next three years, the State Government is going to connect as many as 10000 village panchayats with broadband facility, he had informed.
