23 quota seats still lying vacant in Jagdalpur Medical College

Outsider students allotted seats for admission under all India quota are least interested in joining Jagdalpur Medical College as even after second round of counselling 23 seats are vacant and date of commencement of classes drawing closer. In the first phase 35 students had taken admission while in second phase 42 students have so far taken admission totalling 77 which also included 34 girl students.

Notably, this year the number of seats for admission in MBBS course of Jagdalpur medical College has been increased to 100 instead of earlier 50. Out of this, while 15 seats are filled from All India quota, 5 seats are reserved for National Mineral Development Corporation quota, the remaining 80 seats are filled from State Pre Medical Test (CGPMT). After the second round of counselling, which was held from August 16 to 20, while CGPMT seats are almost filled barring a few, in the all India and NMDC quota seats barely one or two students have made their presence felt.

Meanwhile, administration of Medical College Jagdalpur said that though there was no further instruction for filling up the remaining 23 vacant seats, the classes for first year MBBS would start from August 26 as per the schedule.
