Around 75 per cent of residents in Dihipara of Debadihi village of Ward

No. 27 of Jharsuguda municipality have been affected by kidney -related diseases, which are rising in the district since last five years.

Out of 60 families residing in Dihipada located in the vicinity of Jharsuguda main township, one or more members of 45 families are suffering from kidney related diseases.

Sources said that Dihipada village had seen kidney -related disease for the first time in 2014, when many persons had died and others suffered from the dreaded disease.

That time, the District Health Administration had tested the water sample of local ponds and wells but the final report was not submitted.

The residents claimed that they are suffering from kidney-related diseases due to the contaminated drinking water.

Again, the kidney disease has come up in the locality taking a serious turn everywhere. One kidney patient laxmi Pradhan had died two months back. Earlier also, Binadan Pradhan, Urbasi Pradhan , Iswar Pradhan and Prahallad Pande lost their valuable lives some days back due to the disease.

Even now, Sadhu Pradhan, Santara Pradhan, Suban Pradhan, Babulal Pradhan, lochan Pradhan and his wife Susila Pradhan, Nabaghana

Many poor patients are dying due to lack of proper medical treatment and inability to afford monthly medicine cost of Rs 10,000.

One doctor from Hyderabad is coming to Jharsuguda once in a month to treat kidney patients.  But, surprisingly the District Health

Department is not taking any steps for treatment of these patients. The attending physician Dr Asis Sinha said that the drinking water of Debapada have some problems.

The disease is suspected to be on the rise due to lack of initiative by the district health administration.
