suspected Naxal courier arrested
Raipur: A suspected Naxal courier was arrested from Kanker, police said here on Friday. The accused was identified as Mohan Singh (28) resident of Bade Injor Amabeda, Kanker. The arrest was made on the basis of information provided by Santu Kunjam who was arrested a few days back along with four others from Dantewada.
Mohan also is a close aid of Prabhakarna who is believed to be a key Naxal leader, police said.
Mohan used to work as local contact for Naxals and supplied medicines ammunition and other items to the insurgents' police claimed.
raid conducted, Nine gamblers held
Bhilai: The District Crime branch conducted a raid in Sector-2 area and arrested nine gamblers with cash amounting to Rs 1 lakh. The accused were booked under relevant Sections of Gambling Act, police said on Friday. Police said the raid was conducted on a tip off while the accused were engaged in gambling in a nursery, police said.
The arrested persons were identified as Kehsav Sahu, Shiv Yadav, Ashok, Hukum Singh, P Satish, G Shrinu, Govinda, Shankar Ramu and Santosh Kumar.
