Security forces on Sunday recovered and disposed of a powerful 20 kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Maoists in the insurgency-hit Sukma district, police said.
“The bomb was recovered on Kerlapal-Fulbagdi road which was planted by Naxals for causing heavy damage to the security forces,” a local police official said.
As soon as the bomb was detected a team of bomb-disposal squad reached the spot and destroyed the bomb, the officials said.
Notably, during the ‘Naxal Saheedi Saptah’ observed by Maoists recently, over a dozen IEDs planted by ultras were detected by security forces in Dantewada and Sukma districts of sprawling Bastar region.
