The district crime branch arrested two persons on the charges of theft and seized valuables worth Rs 1 lakh from their possession. The accused had committed the theft in the house of an anganwadi worker, informed Superintendent of Police Durg, Anand Chabda on Wednesday.
The accused have been identified as Satyajit alias Sudhir Tandon (25), a resident of Umarpoti village under Utai police station and Yashwant Satnami (25), a resident of Marra village under Utai police station. The accused committed theft in the house of Yogeshwari Jangde located in Utai area.
Police informed that one of the accused had acquaintance with the victim and were aware about the routine of the Yogeshwari Jangde. “The victim before going to school used to hide the key of door lock near the door. The accused came to know about it and few days back when Yogeshwari Jangde went to anganwadi they opened the front lock and entered into house from where they made away with gold-silver ornaments along with silver coins worth Rs 1 lakh,” said the officer investigating the case and added that both the accused have confessed of crime during interrogation.
