An 18-year-old youth died after a rashly driven water tanker ran over him on Sunday at Paras Nagar.
The residents of area gathered at accident spot and staged demonstration demanding immediate arrest of the driver who was successful in fleeing the spot after the mishap, police said. According to Devendra Nagar police Nasimuddin (18) son of Samimuddin resident of Paras Nagar was returning home around 4.30 pm on his bike when suddenly a water tanker (CG-04 JB-0191) coming from behind dashed Nasimuddin who was dragged to several feet on road.
“After the accident the victim was rushed to Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital where he succumbed,” informed officer investigating the case. Meanwhile, after the accident local people gathered on the spot and staged demonstration. The flow of traffic was totally interrupted due to agitation raised by local inhabitants. later the police was sent who pacified the mob with use of gentle force. Meanwhile, Devendra Nagar police has registered a case in this connection and is looking for the errant driver.
