A total of 17 junior doctors posted at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of Dr Ambedkar hospital would hold a day's token strike on Tuesday to protest against the manhandling of one of their colleagues by In-charge doctor of the Model Blood Bank Dr Vijay Kapse.

However, the emergency services will function normally at the hospital. The doctors have demanded action against the Blood Bank In-Charge within two days from the hospital management. More than 100 medical students under the banner of Union of Medical Students, Chhattisgarh on Monday took out a rally and raised slogan in the medical college premises and later submitted a memorandum to In-charge Dean and Head of the Forensic Department Dr RK Singh.

The memorandum was to be submitted by the students to Hospital Superintendent Dr Vivek Chaudhary who was not present on the occasion. Instead the students submitted the same to Dr Singh.

The agitating students included those from Physio, Homoeopathy and Dental Departments besides those who have completed their degree from the college.

The doctors had been demanding the termination of services of the In-charge doctor of the Blood Bank Dr Kapse in the hospital.

It was learnt that Dr Kapse allegedly manhandled and hurled abuses at the Dr Chandrakant Diwan of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at the hospital. On the other hand a student had also complained against the doctors alleging misbehaviour by him.

A directive had already been issued for an impartial inquiry into the incident besides formation of a four-member probe team by the hospital management. The probing team is to submit a report within the next one week.
