15L state farmers denied Rs 900cr: Kaushik

Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik alleged Congress is doing politics in the name of farmers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started ‘PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi’ for farmers but the state government has failed to run the scheme as more than 15 lakh farmers have not yet been registered, the BJP leader alleged.

He said there are 37 lakh farmers in the state out of which 21 lakh fall under marginal category while 8 lakh are small farmers. Till date, the Congress government has registered only 15 lakh farmers of the state under the scheme, while another 15 lakh are yet to be registered.

He pointed out that these farmers are running pillar to post for registration as in three installments of Rs 2000 each a total Rs 6000 will be credited in their bank account directly. The state farmers have been denied a benefit of Rs 900 crore due to non-registration, he claimed.

Kaushik said who will take the responsibility for this laxity towards the farmers. He said the state government should be sensitive on the issue and ensure registration of remaining farmers, so that they can derive benefit of the scheme.
