Around 140 cattle have died in a “Gaushala” at Durgukondal region of Kanker district, claimed the members of Chhattisgarh Janta Congress (Jogi) here on Saturday.
“The ‘Kamdhenu Gaushala’ at Karrabhar village of Durgkondal is operating since 2012 and had received grant of Rs 49.95 lakh in past two years. However, the fund was siphoned off and the cow-calves kept in Gaushala were kept in pathetic condition,” alleged Suryakant Tiwari of Chhattisgarh Janta Congress (Jogi) party while addressing a press conference here.
Not only these 142 cattle but many more were cremated in the compound of Gaushala, he claimed.
“The locals informed us that sometimes the animals are loaded in Matador and sent out,” Tiwari said and charged that the Gaushalas had turned into cow slaughter house under the patronage of ruling BJP government.
