At least twelve children from some primary schools in the district were taken ill after consuming a deworming medicine administered on the occasion of National Deworming Day on Wednesday.
All the children have been discharged from the hospital, District Collector OP Choudhary informed.
While seven students complained of uneasiness and nausea at a Government Primary School in Bamnidih block, five in another Government School of Jaijaipur block after consuming de-worming medicine (albendazole) were taken ill, he said.
The students were admitted to Jaijaipur government hospital where their condition was reported to be stable. They have been discharged from the hospital, the Collector said.
According to the doctors, the children would have a psychological fear of medicines which could have resulted in uneasiness, or the condition could arise if the medicines were taken on empty stomach, the Collector said adding the exact cause of the incident will be known after an
investigation.
