Eleven Maoists, including three carrying cash rewards on their heads surrendered before the police in the insurgency-hit Kondagaon district, police said on Monday.

In a separate action, six ultras came in police net during an anti-insurgency drive carried out by security forces under Gadiras Police Station of Sukma district.

Police said the surrendering ultras were deeply dissatisfied with the Naxal ideology and discrimination meted out by the senior Naxal cadres hailing from Andhra Pradesh.

Of the surrendering ultras one carried reward of Rs 5,000 on his head while two others carried reward of Rs 2,000 each on their arrests, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kondagaon JS Watti said adding, two out of the eleven surrendering Naxals were female.

The attractive rehabilitation and surrender policy adopted by the State Government also acted as catalyzing element for convincing the ultras to shun the path of violence, he added.

They were members of Naxal Janmilita and were residents of Bayanar, Rajbeda and Choote Usari villages, the SP said.

Meanwhile, security forces in Sukma district succeeded in arresting six insurgents out of which one carried reward of Rs 5,000 on his head.

A joint contingent of 230th battalion CRPF, District Police and District Reserve Group (DRG) had started on a search operation from Gadiras police station, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sukma Santosh Singh said.

During the operation, police forces nabbed six persons from Gufdi village under Gaidras police station limits, he said.

They were identified as Kamlu Deva (30), Sodhi Ganga (26), Sodhi Chula (24), Hemla Joga (24), Madvi Nanda (25) and Kavasi Aayat (26) all residents of Gufdi and Bagdeguda village.

The guerrillas had attacked polling parties during tri-level Panchayat elections and had looted polling materials. In a separate incident Kamlu Deva had participated in a Naxal ambush attack wherein on police jawan had martyred, the ASP added.

Kamlu Deva carried reward of Rs 5,000 on his arrest, he mentioned.
