The 102-year old Rukmani Diwan, resident of Tatibandh in Raipur city has assured to cast her vote for the first time on April 23 when polling to be held for Raipur Lok Sabha seat.
As part of creating awareness among voters, women and child development department staff under ‘Mor Raipur-Vote Raipur’ drive are conducting door-to-door campaign to motivate electors to cast their votes. Under this campaign, Women and child development supervisor Anupama Tiwari called on Diwan and interacted with her. Diwan told Tiwari that she had grown up in a big joint family and had rarely stepped out from her house and had never exercised her franchise.
Tiwari was literally surprised by Diwan’s shocking revelation and the supervisor motivated her to use her voting right as part of her duty as a citizen towards nation. Diwan has now promised she would definitely vote on April 23.
