The Covid pandemic has increased the importance of ‘World Mental Health Day’, Dr Manoj Sahu said on Friday.
Dr Sahu, Head of Department at JLN Medical College in Raipur, said that every year the World Mental Health Day is observed on October 10.
“Covid pandemic and problems associated with it are causing tension for everyone. News about our near and dear ones getting affected by Covid is troubling us. If this affects our daily life, then we need to get mental counselling,” Dr Sahu was quoted as saying in a press release.
If any normal person is increasingly getting irritated, thereby affecting people and relations around, or children are getting aggressive, then it indicates need for mental counselling, he said.
Mental troubles are like any other physical problems. So one should not hesitate in getting advice from psychiatrists, he added.
He said a team of experts from the Medical College Raipur is regularly providing tele counselling to Covid patients admitted in Covid care centres and hospitals.
According to Dr Sahu, Covid patients are thrice provided counselling while they are admitted in Covid centres.
“The hub at JLN Medical College Raipur functions from 8 am to 8 pm and so far more than 400 patients have been counselled,” Dr Sahu said.
