‘Urban Naxalites' behind farmers' stir: BJP

The ‘Urban Naxalites’ and ‘Tukde-Tukde gang' are playing a key role from behind in the ongoing agitation of farmers in Delhi, BJP leader and former Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agarwal said on Monday.

It is these political forces which are fanning the protests, he said.

Making an appeal to the farmers, he said they should not fall for false propaganda. All the new laws will benefit them.

Earlier, farmers had to wait for six months to a year for their payment but now this has to be done within three days, he said. Earlier, if paddy which had not been sold in ‘Mandi’ was seized by the government. Now there is no such provision.

Agarwal said earlier the industrialist or trader used to fix the rate of produce and farmers did not have any right. Now, farmers are free to fix the rate. Now the farmer can sell it at any part of the country or outside the ‘mandi’ at a higher price.

He said there is a provision for payment of one-and-a-half higher charges as fine if the agreement is discontinued.

Urging the farmers to withdraw their agitation, he said they can wait for implementation of the new arrangements for two to three years and if the provisions are found to be erroneous, then they can agitate.
