Chhattisgarh Director General of Police D.M. Awasthi on Tuesday directed police officials to act immediately in cases related to crime against women.
He said this at a review meeting with all district level police officers via video-conferencing from the Police Headquarters, an official communication said.
Awasthi directed the officials that immediate action should be initiated when crime takes place, particularly in rural areas. The Town Inspector should visit the villages under his jurisdiction and hold a ‘choupal’ with villagers.
He said the problems raised by the villagers should be resolved within a given time frame. The related documents of the village should also be updated.
Awasthi directed the District Superintendent of Police to conduct a surprise inspection of such arrangements to get an update.
In rural areas too, a beat system should be introduced. Additionally, a better system of interaction should be put in place in major cities along with monitoring the streets and colonies.
Awasthi said that crimes against women, murder, loot and dacoity, immediate action should be taken. Laxity in action in cases against women and children will not be tolerated.
He also told the police personnel to take stern action against those involved in human trafficking in Raigarh and Jashpur districts.
The chargesheet against the criminals should be produced before the court at the earliest.
