Dhamtari's District Electoral Officer (DEO) Dr C. R. Prasanna on Wednesday said that the Strong Room situated at the Counting Centre is fully secure as extensive security arrangements have been made.
On Tuesday, it may be recalled that after a Tehsildar and electricians entered the Strong Room, the Congress party candidate and the Independent candidates had created a furore that the administration did not take them anyone into confidence.
This had also lead to Congress candidates at State and district level registering complaint with Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Subrat Sahoo in Raipur late on Tuesday night.
Dhamtari DEO Dr C. R. Prasanna further said that security personnel has been deployed and CCTV cameras installed for monitoring the Strong Room.
The permission as sought has been granted to candidates/agents for monitoring at individual level outside the Strong Room round-the-clock, he said.
Now after getting with permission, the candidates or their agents can stay before the main gate of Strong Room in a tent for regular monitoring.
New Livelihood College, Dhamtari has been converted into the Counting Centre for the district where EVMs and VVPAT machines from 733 polling centres have been kept.
The strong rooms have been sealed in presence of General Observer, Returning Officer, candidates and their representatives.
