To address the problem of unemployment, the Chhattisgarh government is planning to set up a software park, food park and medicinal-plant based industries in the state to promote business, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced on Monday.
The Chief Minister termed the unemployment problem as the biggest challenge faced by youth after completing their education.
He was addressing the 24th Convocation Ceremony of Pt Ravishankar Shukla University organised at Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, Science College, premises.
“It is a coincidence that country is observing 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and his grandson Gopal Krishna Gandhi is chief guest in this ceremony. Government of Chhattisgarh is working in lines of ideals and dreams of Mahatma Gandhi for village development by lining up schemes like ‘Narva, Garuva, Ghurva and Baari’ (NGGB),” he said.
Chief guest Gopal Krishna Gandhi said, “More and more women have been venturing into higher education and soon their representation will increase in assembly and Lok Sabha.”
“For us, we are human first and no one can divide us in the name of religion and caste. The country is in danger due to its biggest problem of huge disparity between rich and poor, literate and illiterate, English educated and non-English educated; gender difference and digital divide,” Gandhi said.
“There is a need to stand together to eliminate these. Creating employment and self-employment is the need of the hour for the youth,” he said.
Chancellor and Governor Anandiben Patel, chairing the convocation, called upon youth to take pledge for any social change. “It can be to eradicate child marriage, promoting education of girls and others.”
“Instead of searching government jobs, youth should train themselves for self-employment and give employment to others. Time has changed in girl education scenario as now it is easily available for them. Women are to be empowered so that they become economically strong as is the case in Gujarat,” she said
Governor felt that primary school children should be invited to such function to motivate them.
Universities should take initiative for eradication of TB and rural development by adopting villages, she added.
Higher Education Minister Umesh Patel also addressed the gathering.
Around 340 students were conferred degrees while 104 received gold medals.
