Chhattisgarh will start operating the ‘Rural Industrial Parks’ on the day of Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). The target is to establish 300 parks in a year, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said in his Independence Day speech on Monday.
Baghel spoke after unfurling the national flag at the Police Parade Ground here.
Recalling the contributions made during the freedom movement, he said: "India has achieved political independence but is yet to achieve social, economic and moral freedom, especially for its seven lakh villages."
There are many challenges including the shrinking area under cultivation, decreasing forest cover, environmental imbalance, pollution, diseases, inflation and unemployment which are putting people’s lives in danger, he said.
As part of fulfilling the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi, the government is working to bring changes in rural areas through ‘Rural Industrial Parks’ for which land has been identified. The scheme will be implemented from October 2.
Similarly, to keep the environment of cities clean and green, a ‘Krishna Kunj Yojana’ will begin on August 19, on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami. The plantation will be done in an area of 226 acres in all 170 urban bodies.
He said 422 schools from the next academic session will be brought under ‘Swami Atmanand Utkrisht Vidyalaya Yojana’ in Bastar and Surguja divisions.
Dantewada district will have cent percent schools under the scheme. At present 279 schools are operational. It includes 32 Hindi medium and 247 English medium schools. In the current academic session, 2.52 lakh students took admission in these schools.
