To protect the Kharif crop, a ‘Roka-Chheka’ campaign will start in Chhattisgarh on July 10 when cattle will be brought to Gauthans on a regular basis.
The health checkup, castration, artificial insemination and vaccination of cattle will be done at the Gauthans.
Making an appeal to livestock owners and farmers, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said ‘Roka-Chheka’ was a Chhattisgarh tradition.
The farmers’ biggest concern is care and protection of the crops from grazing during sowing season. As results of the earlier campaigns were encouraging, it will be operational this time from July 10 to 20.
He added that livestock owners and farmers should take a pledge not to leave their animals for grazing in the open.
With the establishment of Gauthans in villages, taking care of the cattle has been made easy. The Gauthan Committees will take care of fodder and water for the cattle.
