Obstacles should be removed and improvements should be made in the 24 black spots identified as accident zones, Raipur Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure said on Sunday.

He was holding a meeting of the Raipur District Road Safety Committee held in the Collectorate.

Senior Superintendent of Police Prashant Agarwal and Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Mayank Chaturvedi were present, an official communication said.

Bhure underlined that in the places where a number of accidents take place, barriers and other disruptions which make driving difficult should be removed.

Chowk-intersections, blind turns and illegal cuts should be widened. To alert the general public, boards and indicators of the accident sites should be installed, he said.

The police identified the accident-prone spots as NH-30, Rajlaxmi Dhaba in Abhanpur, Kamal Vihar Devpuri Chowk and Bhanpuri Tiraha.

Bhure asked the official to remove the dhabas on the accident site on NH-30. An action plan should be made at Bhanpuri Tiraha to improve traffic movement.

He called for dividers on Pachpedi Naka and Santoshi Nagar road and automatic traffic signals under Pandri and Shankar Nagar expressway.
