Additional Chief Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner K D P Rao has directed officials to prepare a blueprint for processing of jackfruit in Jashpur and corn in Bastar regions.
Addressing a State-level Bankers Committee meeting at the Mantralaya here, Rao also directed officials to provide high quality to seeds to farmers for production of paddy, oilseeds and pulses crops.
The maximum amount of Corn is grown in Bastar and there is a need to open a Corn processing unit in the region, he said.
Soybean is a cash crop and there should be increase in acreage of the crop for which the officials need to encourage farmers grow the crop, Rao said.
He said that an action plan need to be prepared for providing sugarcane to farmers on Minimum Support Price who produce jaggery.
‘In Kerala various items are prepared using jackfruit and there is a good production of crop in Ambikapur and Jashpur where pilot projects could be launched for processing of jackfruit’, Rao said.
