Expressing optimism that the Congress would be able to form the Government in Chhattisgarh on its own after counting of votes on December 11, Leader of Opposition T.S. Singhdeo said that he will not be in favour of making any compromise to seek support of Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) Jogi (J) Chief Ajit Jogi in case party falls short for majority.
Addressing a press conference here at Rajiv Bhawan, Singhdeo said he would prefer to ‘abstain’ from the Government if such a situation arises.
“It is my individual view not to make compromises for political gains and I stand firm on this”, he said.
Replying to query he further denied he will take retirement from active politics or quit Congress in such a situation. “I am a dedicated worker of Congress and would be a part of it lifelong”, he said.
To another query regarding possibility of tampering and hacking of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Singhdeo said he was optimistic that the system which is deployed by Election Commission of India to safeguard it would perform its duty well and such a situation will not arise.
He however didn’t deny that there could be possibility of tampering of EVMs.
“It’s a universal truth that all man made machines have the possibility of getting tampered and EVMs are no exception”, he said.
Singhdeo while replying to a query also ruled out possibility of any defection from the Congress party.
“Each and every candidate of Congress is well associated with the party and there is no chance of them defecting to Bharatiya Janata Party, he said.
Regarding possibility of someone blackmailing the Congress MLAs with sting operations and preparation of CD in a bid to stop Congress from forming the Government, Singhdeo said the mandate was now secured and such attempts would not be able to stop them from forming the Government.
