An explosion at Torgaon in Raipur’s Mandir Hasod on Monday created panic in the area though no one was injured in the blast, cause of which was not yet known, police said.
According to locals a small crater was formed at the blast site.
Police said the blast occurred when wife of a security guard, who lives in a nearby godown, was burning garbage at the site.
Soon after the blast, a team of bomb disposal squad (BDS) reached the spot. The BDS team found traces of fuse used in triggering the blast, police said.
“It appears like a bundle of fuse was buried in the ground at the blast site, which exploded when garbage was burnt at the site,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Raipur Arif Shaikh said.
How did the fuse reach the spot is being under investigation, he said, while adding at times small mining works happen in Mandir Hasod area.
