Chhattisgarh Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo on Wednesday credited "joint efforts" for the way Covid-19 was controlled.

The pandemic had only spread to all Indian states but across the world too, and at one time India reporting the third largest number of positive cases, he said.

Joint efforts by everyone helped control the disease in the state, Singh Deo added.

The intervention during Covid-19 in the state was quick, he said at a joint virtual meet of USAID and NISHTHA-Jhpiego.

The discussion was on Micro Resource Mapping and Cross Sectoral Partnerships for sustainable healthy and hygienic behaviour in the state.

The first primary defense against Covid-19 remains basic hygiene like washing hands, maintaining physical distance and wearing masks.

The model of Micro Resource Mapping and Cross Sectoral Partnerships will benefit communities in 101 villages across Surguja and Jashpur districts, he said.
