‘Issue new ration cards regularly’

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday called for issuing new ration cards regularly to eligible families and applicants.

At a review of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, he asked the officers to ensure strict compliance of the Chhattisgarh Food and Nutrition Security Act 2012 and the Chhattisgarh Ration Card Rules 2016 in all the districts.

They should continue the process of making new ration cards, an official communication said.

The Food Department on Monday issued to the Collectors detailed guidelines regarding new ration cards.

The directive states that the pending applications at the district level for making ration cards will be reviewed regularly by the Collector. The process of physical verification of pending applications and verification of eligibility within 15 days will be ensured.

After verification, the applicants have to be issued ration cards as per the time-limit prescribed in the Public Service Guarantee Act 2011.

During disposal of applications for ration cards, undue delay should not be made at any cost, the government said.
