The Chhattisgarh government will try to blame the suicide of farmers on mental illness or depression as its policy has failed to ensure better prospects for the peasants, state BJP President Vishnudeo Sai said on Friday.
He was reacting to the suicide of farmer Dhaniram on Thursday in village Marangpuri in Rajpur tehsil in Kondagaon district. The district administration has said the suicide took place due to depression.
Sai said last year also the total crop area was curtailed and this year also in the name of ‘Giridawari’ 25 percent reduction of total crop area has been done. He asked the government to take stern action against the concerned officials over this.
