The BJP on Monday accused the Chhattisgarh government of indecisiveness as it was announced that the lockdown in Raipur district will be lifted from Tuesday, saying the state was leaving the people in the hands of God instead of properly fighting Covid-19.
Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Dharamlal Kaushik said in a video message to the media that before imposing the lockdown, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey said there is no need for a lockdown.
But a week’s total lockdown was imposed. On the last date of the lockdown on Monday, instead of reviewing the overall benefits and necessity of further extending it, it is being lifted.
Choubey announced the lifting of the lockdown stating that the situation is critical but people’s cooperation is required to further control the pandemic.
Kaushik pointed out that lockdown is being lifted so that the Congress can hold its protest against the Central government on Tuesday. The march will be organized from Rajiv Bhavan to Raj Bhavan to hand over a memorandum addressed to the President.
Kaushik said the Congress is more interested on holding its events, showing scant regard to the concerns of common man. It is possible the lockdown may again be imposed after the event is held.
