‘Ensure nutritious food to increase children's immunity’

Published on:

Humidity leads to         weather conditions that can grow viruses. Children should be kept away from dirt and getting wet. They should be fed nutritious food to boost their immunity, Dr Subhash Mishra, the Director (Epidemic), said on Friday.

Issuing an advisory, he said the high level of          humidity caused by sunlight and rains favours the growth and spread of viruses leading to cough, sneezing,             breathing problems, cold and even viral fever.

As these viruses are           air-borne, children are more susceptible to them.

They should be provided food which helps to boost their immunity. Not only children but vulnerable adults also need to take care, Mishra said.

Common symptoms of viral fever include headache, body ache, prolonged fever and fever which doesn't come down even with the use of medicines.

Other symptoms are joint pain, body rash, flushing of face and vomiting.

Gargling with salt and honey in lukewarm water helps to remove sore throat or pain. Body should be given maximum rest.
