Chhattisgarh Health and Family Welfare Minister T.S. Singh Deo on Saturday said keeping in mind the second wave of Covid-19, emphasis should be laid on promoting the use of masks, avoiding going to crowded areas, home-isolation and hospitalization.

He was holding a review meeting with senior officials of the Health Department on possible Omicron infection in the state, an official communication said.

He laid stress on strengthening the health system by formulating a better policy so that the general public can be protected from possible omicron infection.

The Minister held a detailed discussion on the preparations of the Health Department and an action plan regarding Omicron infection.

The implementation of guidelines issued by the central Health and Family Welfare Ministry and quarantine being done in the state by screening people coming from abroad was also reviewed.

The officials stated that all patients arriving from aboard are mandatorily tested for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) and asked to complete the 8 days quarantine.

If found positive, the sample is sent for Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) test. Already, a Covid War Room has been established at Nava Raipur.

The Minister asked the Health Department to put in place a systematic action plan. Each officer should be given responsibility and regular review of arrangements has to be held to assess the changing situation.
