‘Centre planning to remove RBI Chief’

The BJP government at the Centre is planning to remove RBI Governor Urjit Patel by trying to use Section 7—an Act never used in country’s history, says Congress Party's National Spokesperson Manish Tiwari.

Addressing a press conference here, Tiwari said that the move could hurt the Indian economy.

“The LPG cylinder is being sold at the highest price all over the country in Chhattisgarh at Rs 1037”, he said.

“It is also astonishing that even though the global price of crude oil has decreased, the Central Government was continuously increasing the prices of petroleum products," Tiwari said.

The Central excise on petrol was increased more than 200% while the duty on diesel was raised to over 400% in past 53 months rule of the BJP government, he said.

“Thus a total of Rs 11 lakh crore was deposited in government treasury but had badly hampered the condition of farmers in the  country”, Tiwari said.
