Hitting out at the Modi government for the delay in supplying fertilizers, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey on Sunday accused it of adapting a step motherly attitude towards Chhattisgarh.
Addressing the media here, Choubey said monsoon had reached the state well before time but the farmers were facing a dearth of fertilizers due to delays in supply by the Centre.
The farmers desperately need fertilizer but the delays has badly hampered the sowing work, he said.
“The double standards of the Centre can be gauged as supplies to BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh is 70 and 65 percent respectively but it is less than 50 percent for Chhattisgarh," he said.
“Chhattisgarh demanded 12 lakh tonnes of fertilizers. The Centre has approved the demand but the supply is delayed."
The Minister said: “The Supreme Court said the Centre was acting like an ostrich. This was over the way they tackled Covid. On issues of farmers too, the saying is proving to be true," he said.
