‘C’garh observes shutdown to protest Udaipur killing

Published on:

A ‘Chhattisgarh Bandh’ called on Saturday in protest against the murder of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur in Rajasthan was overall successful and incident free. Shops, schools, colleges and petrol pumps remained closed. The Congress termed it a total failure.

The Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had called for the bandh. Petrol pumps and a few shops opened after 2 pm.

The Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce announced support to the bandh. Essential services were         exempted from the protest.

Bajrang Dal and VHP activists were seen urging road-side small kiosks to close in different parts of Raipur.

The bandh also impacted business across the state.

Chhattisgarh PCC President Mohan Markam said people had rejected the ‘Bandh’. He accused the BJP and its allies of harassing and threatening hand cartmen, tea shops and vegetable sellers.
