The BJP on Wednesday asked the Chhattisgarh government to increase the prescribed quantity of paddy to be purchased from farmers besides buying 20 quintals of paddy per acre.
BJP state President Vishnu Deo Sai said the government should be sensitive towards the farmers.
Sai said the Congress had promised in its election manifesto to buy a minimum 15 quintals of paddy at Rs 2,500 a quintal. It means the government can buy more paddy than this and can also pay more.
Despite increasing the support price of paddy by the Central government, Chhattisgarh has not hiked the price of paddy and it should buy more paddy from the farmers, Sai added.
