The Congress on Wednesday flayed the BJP for raising the issues of Hasdeo Arana and Lemru Elephant projects and said it has no moral right to comment on them.In a statement, PCC chief Mohan Markam said the BJP had done nothing to the projects during its 15-year regime.
A resolution in the Chhattisgarh Assembly was passed in 2005 for the conservation of forests. The UPA government approved it.
Astonishingly, the then Forest Secretary in the BJP state government refused to conserve the forest, Markam said.
The conservation of wildlife was never a priority for BJP, rather it promoted coal mining in the area, Markam said.
“It is the Congress-Baghel government which after coming to power increased the project area from 450 sq km to 1,995 sq km," he said.
