"Musicals are only adaptations these days. There are hardly any originals. 'Whiplash' has helped take off 'la la land', something I wrote even before I worked on 'Whiplash'," Chazelle said in a statement. "By all means for now this is my dream project. Of course I'm certain I will write many more dream projects in the future," he added. "Whiplash" features a stellar combination of actors like J.K. Simmons and Miles Teller.
