Quinoa: Quinoa is a small seed that’s native to South America. It makes a fine substitute for white rice or pasta when you’re trying to add more fiber and nutrients to your diet. It’s flavorful, easy to digest, gluten-free, and high in protein. It contains almost twice as much fiber as most other grains which helps to relieve constipation and prevent heart disease by reducing high blood pressure and diabetes. Quinoa contains Iron that helps keep our red blood cells healthy and is the basis of hemoglobin formation. It also increases brain function because the brain takes in about 20 per cent of our blood oxygen. Quinoa is rich in magnesium that helps to relax blood vessels and thereby to alleviate migraines. Magnesium also may reduce Type 2 diabetes by promoting healthy blood sugar control. It is high in Riboflavin (B2) that improves energy metabolism within brain and muscle cells and is known to help create proper energy production in cells. Quinoa is rich in B Vitamins, nutrients that help treat age spots and other conditions related to skin pigmentation by reducing the deposits of dark melanin in the skin. Quinoa is rich in lysine, which is important for tissue repair and growth. It is the only grain that contains this amino acid.
