The 19th Congress of the International Society for Burn Injuries brought together experts from all around the globe to deliberate on burn treatment, management and rehabilitation in New Delhi.

This was the second time that an international conference of this scale was taking place and on the topic most relevant for our country that registers a very high incidence of burn injuries (over 250 cases of burn injuries were reported by various hospitals in Delhi this Diwali alone in spite of the ban on crackers). The congress aimed to promote the concept of one world and one standard of care for patients suffering from thermal injury. It will also hold training sessions on caring for the burn-injured patient in resource-restricted countries.

The conference was inaugurated by Dr Harsh Vardhan, Minister, Ministry of Science & Technology, Ministry of Earth Sciences & Ministry of Environment & Climate Change.
