Meditation allows humans to gain power over their mind, body and desires, says Dr Priya Kaul

Meditation is a thousand-year-old practice. The older the practice, the greater are its effects and benefits. In this modern time, our life is with stress and excess consumption of information. Meditation is a tool to fight these effects of stressful life and find a peaceful living.

Meditation is to train the mind and actions, create self-awareness, and achieve a stable, emotionally calm and mentally clear state of mind. The good thing about meditation is that it does not require any equipment. It is, though, best practised in a quiet, peaceful surrounding. It is commonly a means to find answers to burning questions of the mind.

Mental health: Most mental health issues can be resolved, with the help of meditation. Researchers have believed that meditation could be a solution in many mental health cases to eliminate medication. In the recent pandemic, mental health issues became of grave concern in many nations around the world. Those suffering from depression and anxiety due to the pandemic are advised to practise meditation to gain relief. It has become an effective and important part of daily life.

Take control: It is often when the chaos of daily life takes control meditation comes handy. It helps rid away negative thoughts and allows the brain to find its zen and focus. It permits zero in on positive thinking and finding an equilibrium. It penetrates serenity into the mind that assists in fulfilling the answers for an individual. Answering desired questions is best achieved in a quiet and peaceful environment or surrounding.

Motivation: Meditation allows humans to gain power over their mind, body and desires. The chaotic consistency of daily life prevents individuals to stay motivated and confident in their endeavours. Meditation gives them dominating thinking to stay on the course of positivity and healing. It gives them the strength to ignore distractions and manipulate the mind to do differently.

Stay calm: Meditation is useful for school students, busy corporate employees, business people and professionals in different fields. It helps gain concentration, resilience and improves performance. People who meditate are known to be kind in their actions and thoughts. They are also more humble and gentle beings. A study shows that meditation makes people softer, agile minded and thoughtful as they can stay calm and consider situations before impulsively taking action.

Be disciplined: Meditation lets an individual free from limitations and shortcomings. It leads them to peace and calmness. It helps bring stillness to a racing mind and controls fast-paced thinking. Meditation allows individuals to take control and be disciplined about life and daily habits.

The benefit of meditation is that it gives an individual the ability to find peace. It is a practice chosen by world leaders and highly successful people. Meditation is adopted as part of the corporate world as well. It is a significant part of daily life and is utilised, as a way to live a happy life.
