There are different types of mental health diseases and it is important to differentiate between them. Listed below are the five types of mental disorders.

Major depressive disorder (depression): Depression is a very common mental illness that has negative effects on many aspects of life. It can also reduce your ability to think. A person suffering from this can feel sad and this sadness is unrelenting. If untreated it can last for months or years. Not being involved with anything, avoiding social contacts/ gatherings, a change in appetite, a change in sleep patterns, a lack of energy or an increase in fatigue, making yourself feel worthless and guilty. Friends and family of a depression patient play a huge role in its treatment. Not only can they help you to identify this disease but can also help one get over it.

Schizophrenia: It is a serious mental disorder in which a person can have a distorted sense of reality. He/she becomes irritable, can misinterpret actions or body language, and may stop taking care of hygiene. It is not very common, but it can cause serious symptoms. Diagnosing schizophrenia in adolescents can be difficult because symptoms can be quite vague like irritability, keeping to one self, mood swings, and change in sleep pattern. It can be cured only with the help of medicine and psychologist.

Bipolar Disorder: It is a type of mental illness in which mood disturbance is the core issue. The changes in mood may last from a few weeks to a few months. A person suffering from bipolar disorder may experiences either depression or a state known as mania. In Manic state self-esteem becomes inflated, energy levels are very high, one may not feel like sleeping or may feel fresh even after sleeping for only two-three hours, one may start spending recklessly, becomes overtalkative and others. This phase generally alternates with depressive phases with normal periods in between the two. It can be cured only with the help of medicines

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD): It is a type of anxiety disorder in which obsessive thoughts and images predominate. People with OCD see something from a perspective.

In this disease, it is necessary to wash hands continuously, check body parts, repeat regular activities, and count things repeatedly. It can be cured with help of medication, psychological therapy, ERP therapy, and self-help strategies.

Anxiety: Anxiety, restlessness, fear of the future based on real or imaginary events all the time affects both body and mind. The major symptoms of anxiety are fatigue, headaches, and insomnia.

These symptoms may also vary for a particular person, but permanent fear and anxiety are seen in all. If these symptoms are not severe they may end with the passage of time, otherwise the anxiety disorder occurs and the ability to perform everyday life and work begins to be affected.

It can be treated by following healthy lifestyle, it is very important to improve our chaotic lifestyle. Eat at regular intervals and also make a fixed time to sleep and get up.
