The pandemic has made many people do all the household chores. While it is good to do your work, the down side is dry and rough hands. ROSHANI DEVI shares tips that can help

The COVID-19 has made many people do all the household including washing utensils and clothes. The detergents can make your hands dry and rough. While moisturiser is good, the effect is temporary. However, one can use kitchen ingredients for a lasting effect.

We all know the benefits of olive oil when it comes to cooking but did you know that using it on hands does wonders too? Take half a teaspoon of olive oil (cold pressed preferred) and a teaspoon of sugar. Rub the two between the palms and at the back of the hand for two-three minutes. Wash off with water. For better results do this twice a day.

One can even use lemon juice, glycerin and rose water. Take one -part lemon juice, one-part glycerin and two parts rosewater. Pour them in a bottle and store in a cool dry place. Use this liquid at night on your hands. Wash off in the morning.

Aloe vera does the trick as well. Take a little aloe vera gel and rub it on the hands for a couple of minutes. If you have a plant, take a leaf cut in half and slice it horizontally. Rub this on the hands. Rinse off 15-20 minutes. Do this twice daily for soft hands.
