Tired of trying fancy creams to get rid of oily skin? Fret  not. ROSHANI DEVI shares some home remedies that can work wonders if a proper regimen is followed

Just like dry skin is a problem for some, oily skin is just as problematic. More so given that the festive season is upon us and so is the wedding season. Going to a dermatologist can help but it will be expensive. Here are some DIY tips:

The most important thing to remember is that people who have oily skin need to wash their face every day — twice daily — using a mild soap.

Many households have cornstarch. Mix two tablespoons of cornstarch with warm water to make a thick paste. Apply evenly on the face and let it dry. Wash your face with lukewarm water. Repeat daily for good results.

Tomato is another fruit that is found in homes. It acts like a natural cleanser and gets rid of excess oil, blackheads and spots on the face. Mash one tomato, extract its juice  and strain. Add a few drops of honey. Apply this on the face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with water. Do this once every week.

Coffee is another ingredient that most homes have. Mix coffee powder with some honey and use this mixture to scrub your face. Wash it off with warm water.

Here’s another ingredient that cure all. Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda in 2-3 tablespoons of water to make a fine paste. Apply this paste on the face and wash it off when it dries.
