As monsoons seem to intensify in different parts of India, the spike in water-borne diseases may go up. Often symptoms of these diseases can be confusing and hence it is important to accurately diagnose the cause of the underlying condition.

Metropolis Healthcare has launched a patient care initiative called Fever Fighters Campaign, which is a 24X7 service for the benefit of the patients. Patients can avail this facility by ordering home visits for their testing requirement at any time in the day or night. Metropolis will deliver pathology reports within six hours of sample collection. Furthermore, packages are subsidised and tests have been combined to give a holistic report to ensure that patients are able to begin their treatment in time.

Dr Nilesh Shah, group president, Metropolis Healthcare, said: “Drinking clean water, keeping the surroundings clean and consuming freshly made hot food can greatly reduce the risk of infections. Consult your doctor immediately on first signs of fever and illness to start your treatment immediately.”

It is best to keep a check on food habits, water hygiene and mosquito contact to avoid other viral diseases such as viral fever, cholera, among others. One has to avoid street food and cold food besides washing hands on regular interval. It is also highly advisable to watch out for symptoms and consult a general physician or family doctor once they are observed. This will not only ensure timely diagnosis and consequent treatment at the initial stages, but also ensure that the disease does not spread to other family members or peers.
