Winters in the Capital are no longer as cold as they used to be. However, by following a few home remedies, one can ensure a smooth and glowing skin in the coming months, says Roshani Devi

The problem in winter months is that the skin becomes dry due to lack of moisture. My mother had a simple solution for this when we were kids growing up. She would make a banana pack using milk, honey and lime juice. Apply this on the face and wash off after some time with cold water for soft skin.

Here are other remedies that one can follow.

nMassage face with curd. This is good for the dry skin in winters. Do this once in 15 days.

nMix honey with lemon juice. Make a paste and apply on the face, legs, hands and neck. leave it for 15 minutes and wash it off with cold water. This will make the skin glow in winter.

nCucumber, which is found in most homes, is wonderful  for the skin. Extract juice from a cucumber. Rub the juice on the face. leave it on for some time and then rinse it off. It will also help reduce dark circles under the eyes.

nThen there is the good old turmeric. Make a paste using one teaspoon turmeric,  four tablespoons gram flour (also called chickpea flour) and milk or water. Apply this on your face and neck. leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse with normal tap water. Use this remedy once a  week for a glowing skin.
